Die Epiphora, auch Epipher (von altgriechisch ἐπιφορά epiphorΓ‘, deutsch β€šHinzufΓΌgungβ€˜, β€šZugabeβ€˜), bezeichnet als rhetorische (Wort-)Figur die einmalige oder mehrfache Wiederholung eines Wortes oder einer Wortgruppe am Ende aufeinander folgender SΓ€tze oder Verse.

Die Epiphora zΓ€hlt zu den einfachsten, Γ€ltesten und hΓ€ufigsten rhetorischen und poetischen Stilmitteln; sie begegnet besonders hΓ€ufig in religiΓΆser Sprache, etwa in der Bibel. Heute wird der Begriff auch verallgemeinert in der Sprachwissenschaft gebraucht.

Spiegelbildliches GegenstΓΌck zur Epiphora ist die Anapher; nahe verwandt mit beiden sind Anadiplose und Kyklos.
